1 Cast on 28 stitches.

2 Knit as follows:

Row 2: Purl 4, cable 4 back, (purl 4, cable 4 back) twice, purl 4.
Row 3: Knit 4, purl 4, (knit 4, purl 4) twice, knit 4.
Row 4: Purl 3, twist 3 back, (twist 4 front, twist 4 back) twice, twist 3 back, purl 3.
Row 5: Knit 3, purl 2, knit 3, purl 4, knit 4, purl 4, knit 3, purl 2, knit 3.
Row 6: Purl 2, twist 3 back, purl 3, cable 4 front, purl 4, cable 4 back, purl 3, twist 3 front, purl 2.
Row 7: Knit 2, purl 2, knit 4, (purl 4, knit 4) twice, purl 2, knit 2.
Row 8: Purl 2, knit 2, purl 3, twist 3 back, twist 4 front, twist 4 back, twist 3 front, purl 3, knit 2, purl 2.
Row 9: Knit 2, (purl 2, knit 3) twice, purl 4, (knit 3, purl 2) twice, knit 2.

3 Repeat Rows 1-16 as desired.

Tips & Warnings
To "cable 4 front," slip the next two stitches in your knitting onto a cable needle or a double-pointed needle and hold it in front of your work. Knit the next two stitches, then knit the two stitches from the cable needle.

To "cable 4 back," slip the next two stitches in your knitting onto a cable needle or a double-pointed needle and hold it in back of your work. Knit the next two stitches, then knit the two stitches from the cable needle.

To "twist 3 (4) front," slip the next two stitches in your knitting onto a cable needle or a double-pointed needle and hold it in front of your work. Purl the next stitch (two stitches), then knit the two stitches from the cable needle.

To "twist 3 (4) back," slip the next stitch (two stitches) in your knitting onto a cable needle or a double-pointed needle and hold it in back of your work. Knit the next two stitches, then purl the stitch (two stitches) from the cable needle.
