INTRODUCTION
The University of Queensland, also known informally as UQ was founded in 1909, over 100 years ago, and is the oldest university in Queensland, and fifth in Australia. The university is a public university, and is located in Brisbane. UQ is ranked in the top 1% of universities in all major world university ranking systems. With over 350 programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, UQ offers a comprehensive range of high-quality university programs. Students can choose to study at a number of levels, including bachelor programs, masters programs or higher degree research programs, to obtain new qualifications, or build expertise in specific areas.

The University of Queensland operates on over 50 sites throughout Queensland, which include hospitals, tropical islands and even amazingly an experimental mine. The university has a large student body of 40,512, supported by 6162 staff. The university has a strong international student presence, with over 8813 international students who herald from more than 129 countries.

Application procedures vary depending on whether you are an Australian or International applicant and whether you are applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate program.

ACADEMIC LIFE
With over 350 programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, UQ offers the most comprehensive range of high-quality university programs in Queensland. Students can choose to study at a number of levels, including graduate certificates, masters programs or higher degree research programs, to obtain new qualifications, or build expertise in specific areas.

Major areas of study include: agriculture, animals, food and environment, business, commerce and tourism, law, engineering, architecture and planning, a wide range of health sciences (including medicine), arts, humanities and economics, social science, education, science and information technology, and more.

Study Abroad and student exchange opportunities are also available to students along with English language training and a university pathway program.

STUDENT LIFE

Located in South-East Queensland, Brisbane is Australia’s fastest-growing capital and widely known as one of the country’s most livable cities. Brisbane offers a safe, friendly and multicultural environment with clear skies, warm, sunny days and mild nights. The university offers a range of clubs and societies for students to participate in and offers the opportunity to get in touch with other students who share similar interests. There are currently over 150 clubs at UQ that cater for a wide range of cultural, religious, political, sporting and leisure interests.

CAMPUS INFO & SERVICES

UQ Student Services staff are committed to helping you by way of a range of free, confidential services. Facilities at each campus include group seminars and workshops, small group sessions, individual appointments, and online resources, accommodation guides and budgeting and finance tips. UQ SPORT offers a wide range of sporting and recreational activities and first-class sporting facilities. Facilities are also provided for Disability support, International Student Advisors, Student counseling , Learning assistance and Careers and graduate employment.
