INTRODUCTION
Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) was established in 1897 and is ranked in the top 250 universities in the world with a strong research focus. The University enrolls over 21,000 students each year including around 3,000 international students from over 75 countries. Victoria has a large number of significant Research Centers and Institutes. The University hosts the Mac Diarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology in partnership with Canterbury University, as well as the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research - New Zealand's leading independent biomedical research center. Victoria researchers have won major grants in a highly competitive environment and publish in leading international journals and with top academic publishers.

APPLYING
Students must have sophomore standing at a four-year degree-granting institution at the time of enrollment at Victoria University of Wellington although first-year students may be admitted on a case-by-case basis. Victoria University of Wellington also requires that applicants have a minimum GPA of 2.7, although students who fall below the minimum are encouraged to apply and may be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

Although the enrollment process varies based on your home university's requirements and your financial needs. Early application is advised to secure your place in our program and to increase your chances of obtaining your first-choice host institution. A rolling admissions process is followed, which means applications can be submitted anytime.

ACADEMIC LIFE

The University offers courses in Architecture; Biological Sciences; Business, Management, Marketing; Computer and Information Sciences; Design; Education; Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Foreign Languages and Linguistics; Humanities and Social Sciences; International Relations / Studies; Mathematics and Statistics; Media; Psychology; Sciences. Victoria is one of New Zealand’s leading teaching and research institutions in HRIR, a multidisciplinary area that investigates all dimensions of employment relations in the public and private sectors. Subject to some restrictions, you can choose from a wide range of courses at VUW provided you meet the course prerequisites.

STUDENT LIFE
Upon arrival in New Zealand, student will be met by the Site Director and other in-country staff, who will provide assistance throughout student's time in New Zealand. Internet access and local phone service are available in the university housing.

CAMPUS INFO & SERVICES
Services offered to students are academic skills support; 24-hour computer laboratories; on-campus wireless internet; university email account; on-campus security; health services; disability support; counseling service; sports and recreation center; almost 100 student clubs and societies; library, chaplaincy, cafés and restaurants. VUW offers over 90 student organizations on campus, including academic, athletic, cultural, religious, political and artistic clubs. Victoria has access to playing fields and facilities that offer the chance to be involved in rugby, soccer, cricket, tennis, squash, netball and climbing. At the Recreation Center, open up to 16 hours a day, students can participate in a wide variety of health and fitness activities, outdoor pursuits, dance classes and arts and crafts. The Kiwi Connections program assists international students in settling into their new surroundings. The program pairs incoming international students with current New Zealand and international students who offer advice and answer questions about life on campus.

There are a number of university housing options available for students which include fully-catered Halls of Residence (with a meal plan), self-catered apartments/studios (without a meal plan), or private flats (sharing a house with others). The Accommodation Service at Victoria is responsible for placing students in university accommodation. The Service can also place students in temporary accommodation.
