INTRODUCTION
he University of British Columbia (UBC), established in 1908, is one of Canada’s leading research universities and is consistently ranked among the top 40 in the world. The university attracts 54,000 students from across Canada and 140 countries around the world to two major campuses. Those two main campuses are Vancouver and Okanagan campus. Vancouver Campus is the largest campus is 30 minutes from the heart of downtown Vancouver, a spectacular location that is a 'must-see' for any visitor to the city — where snow-capped mountains meet ocean, and breathtaking vistas greet you around every corner. The campus is home to more than 37,000 undergraduate and 9,000 graduate students. The second major campus is Okanagan campus in the dynamic southern interior city of Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley. UBC's Okanagan campus, open since 2005, provides an intimate learning community in the spectacular wine-growing region of British Columbia. The campus educates more than 6,500 undergraduate and 450 graduate students.

APPLYING
To attend UBC as an exchange student, you must be enrolled at one of UBC's partner universities. Your home university's exchange office will determine your eligibility for an exchange program. Your application will also be reviewed by our office. Applications to study in Applied Science, Management, Creative Writing, Education, Human Kinetics, or Social Work will be reviewed by the faculty or department. Admission to some of these programs is limited. Acceptance to UBC is confirmed once your home university's exchange office receives your acceptance letter.

ACADEMIC LIFE
Faculties included are Engineering, Anthropology, Creative Writing, Economics, English, Political Science, Psychology, Visual Arts and Management.

STUDENT LIFE
The University of British Columbia strives to provide a safe and secure campus community. Campus Security works with many community partners and emergency service provides to support this goal. From participating in recreational sports and serving as the president of a student club or association, to advising fellow students and signing up for workshops, there are plenty of opportunities for UBC students to lead well-rounded, successful campus lives. Most first-year students live in the Totem Park or Place Vanier residences, which offer shared and single rooms, accessible rooms for students with disabilities, and co-ed or single-sex buildings. Most first-year students live in a shared room. Rooms are equipped with basic furnishings and a high-speed Internet connection.

CAMPUS INFO & SERVICES
The Vancouver campus educates more than 47,000 undergraduate and graduate students each year, representing 140 different countries. Hundreds of academic programs are offered through 12 Faculties and 14 Schools. More than 8000 students, faculty and staff live on the campus in one of eight university residences. Another 7,500 people live in one of the residential neighborhoods located on the campus.

PAYING FOR SCHOOL
In 2009, tuition for international students ranged from $16,245 CAD to $25,721 CAD.
