INTRODUCTION
Queen's is one of Canada's leading universities, with an international reputation for scholarship, research, social purpose, and spirit. Consistently highly-ranked, Queen's is known for its incomparable 24-hour learning environment. The University was established by Royal Charter of Queen Victoria in 1841 - twenty-six years before Canadian confederation. Classes were first held in 1842.One of the earliest degree-granting institution in the united Province of Canada, and the first to establish a student government, Queen's has reflected and helped shape Canadian values and policies, educating many of the country's most notable political and cultural figures.

APPLYING

  • Preferred application deadlines are: October 15th for Spring semester and April 15th for Fall semester. Call for availability after these dates.
  • At the time of application a student should normally have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students should hold Sophomore, Junior or Senior class standing at the time of study.
  • Inter study students can combine courses offered in different departments and faculties as scheduling allows.
  • Fall Only students must undertake alternative assessment in lieu of a formal examination before they leave in December, since fall exams take place in January.
  • Standard full-time credit load: 14-16 U.S. semester-hour credits. The total number of courses will vary depending on the credit weighting of each course.


ACADEMIC LIFE
The various faculties at Queen's university are Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Faculty of Arts and Science, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Rehabilitation Therapy, Faculty of Law, School of Business, School of Graduate Studies and Continuing and Distance Studies.

STUDENT LIFE
Teaching and research at Queen’s are carried out in 21 academic Schools within three Faculties, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences; and the Faculty of Medicine, Health, and Life Sciences. As a Study Abroad student you will be permitted to enroll in most subject areas, with the exception of Medicine and Dentistry. Queen’s is a renowned leader in all branches of Engineering, Agriculture, Physics, Music, Archaeology, and Irish Studies. If you are eager to explore Ireland and Irish culture, Queen's offers a comprehensive range of classes with an Irish perspective: history, literature, politics, anthropology and sociology.

CAMPUS INFO & SERVICES
The Students’ Union houses restaurants, shops, a travel agency, nightclub, leisure entertainment and other attractions; more than 140 campus clubs and societies. University Health Service offers medical care and a student counseling service. The Library's book collection extends to over one million volumes, including some of great historical value. Students live in apartments with local students. Accommodations are single room and catered or self-catered.
